madrid + lisbon
In February 2018 my Graphic Design course participated in a sketchbook workshop with illustrator and designer Helle Jensen at her Copenhagen studio. Aside from teaching us how to construct sketchbooks, Jensen also showed us her library of sketchbooks. The way she incorporated found materials and everyday paper goods into her journals specifically related to travel inspired me to experiment beyond my usual pen and paper process.
I brought small notebooks on short trips where recording ethnographic observations, sketching the built world around me, and generally accumulating ephemera related to travel became a daily practice. These images are a selection of pages is from cities in Spain, Portugal, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
