FEED NOURISH RESTORE TRAIL MIX
tufts with rwanda fellowship
spring 2017 + spring 2018
In Spring 2016 I was chosen to participate in the Tufts with Rwanda Fellowship, a yearlong fellowship centered on genocide education, understanding the lasting impacts of colonialism, and building international, interfaith relationships. The focal point of the fellowship is a 10-day trip to Rwanda where the group of 20 fellows lives and learns at Agahozo Shalom Youth Village.
Fellows are tasked with raising $6,000 as a group, the cost of tuition for one student at ASYV, before we depart for our trip. Always a fan of a good side project, I began selling trail mix to contribute to my personal fundraising goal.
I developed 6 different varieties, marketed, sold, and delivered over 200 homemade bags to members of the Tufts community and mindful snackers around the country. What began as a little dorm room start up quickly became a popular and fulfilling enterprise that I was excited to continue one year later when I was selected as a coordinator.
